Message Diesels run a lot cooler than gasoline engines Variable vane turbos can't withstand the heat of a gasoline engine. As far as I know, Porsche is the only manufacturer that has found a material strong enough to hold up and they are either keeping it secret or it's too expensive for turbo companies to bother with.
